Sanna Kivijärvi

DMus, Senior Lecturer at the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and University Lecturer at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki

Dr. Sanna Kivijärvi works as a senior lecturer at the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and as a university lecturer at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. She also serves as a researcher in various research and development projects related to cultural well-being (e.g., on the concepts and dimensions of cultural well-being; the quality of practices, and the expanding professionalism of musicians related to audience outreach work). At Metropolia, she is in charge of the Master’s Degree program Creativity and Arts in Social and Health Fields (CRASH).

Sanna is particularly interested in the relationship between education and culture and what kind of meanings aesthetic experience can have in solving social problems. Her work is centred around the development of pedagogical practices in higher education; she believes that what and how people learn during their studies and how teachers are able to teach and support them, are extremely important for the society as a whole.
